January…A month of new beginnings!
January 2015 we began two projects here at Plant Powered Kids, and our hearts are overjoyed to share our amazing first month of the new year! Our Network has expanded and we are officially receiving donations from the amazing Blacksheep Yoga studio in Oceanside, and our very first installment was hosted by Applied Scholastics Academy North County, which is located in San Marcos.
In our utmost gratitude and as our new program called “Healthy Belly” we decided to donate back to the students at Applied Scholastics Academy North County a box of Oranges, Tangerines, Arugula, and Tomatoes. We heard how much the students loved popcorn so in light of balance we threw in some yummy popcorn for those days the kids get to cuddle up and watch a movie.
Plant Powered Kids Presents: Music+Movement “A Journey Over the Rainbow”
Our intention for Music+Movement is to provide an experience that isn’t offered traditionally in schools or yoga studios. Our program consists of live music and a storytelling yoga sequence to enrich the creative energy and spark inward navigation all while being silly and definitely not quiet! The children are instructed to balance silly, playful, and creative energy with meditative, mellow, and quiet practice. We believe that the spirit of the child and the spirit of Yoga movement can bring families together in the practice of Yoga both on and off the mat.
Our first installment of Music+Movement was infused with live piano By Our Music/Marketing Director Dave Kemp and live cello provided by: Christine Cyr. Our storytelling Yogini, Andrea Alfaro provided a fun energetic experience that had the little yogis asking for more “wheel Pose!”
Plant Powered Kids wants to thank BlackSheep Yoga studio for sponsoring us with blankets and mats, and another huge Thank you to Applied Scholatics Academy North County for hosting us at your amazing campus.
